Wrap it up!

Well, well... the 1st of October is upon us!

I, personally, am super happy because this is my absolute favourite month of the year! But I know that many of you are sad that summer is over and winter is upon us...

Non, mon ami, vous avez tort!

October is the best part of Autumn! That wonderful cross over in the year when it is perfectly acceptable to mix summer cool with winter warm!

As an example I thought I would show you my summer scarf collection and some Top tips on how to wear them with your winter wardrobe!

Monochrome worn over rich warm colours looks stunning this time of year. Try to avoid wearing over tops of the same colour or you might end up looking dull and boring.
Orange is obviously one of the most famous colours for autumn - Pumpkins, Bonfires & the Leaves falling onto the floor are all orange...Try adding an equally bright colour like Pink, Turquoise, Peach or Purple...Avoid other pastels and any shade of green unless you want to actually look like a pumpkin...
Peach & Coral are similar shades of orange and look lovely paired with neutral colours such as grey or brown...experiment with different shades for a cool look!
Some sparkle is always a winner October - February mimicking those frosty mornings... Try wearing with a pale or pastel blue, or baby pink for a feminine look that's not too 'Barbie Doll'
Icy colours really resemble winter... wear with any colour chunky knit jumper and some dark wash jeans for an effortlessly 'cool' look
Really don't want to say goodbye to summer yet? Rich bright pinks, oranges and golds look beautiful over a long sleeve plain white tee... the bigger the scarf - the warmer you'll be. Try shopping for large pashminas and scarves that are used for hijabs as they are large but light weight.
This dusty lilac colour looks great paired with a khaki parka for that 90s grunge feel...add a bobble hat on really cold days.

Most shades of blue look great next to teal green. Wear over a teal t-shirt and add some peacock feather earrings to tie all the colours together.

Square handkerchief scarves look great chucked over most colours and styles of top... Wear over a chunky knit jumper and add some biker boots or doc martins for a casual easy thrown together outfit when you're in a rush!

Those thin scarves are great with long line, light knit cardigans and a long interesting looking necklace that pokes out underneath. Not only do the add some dimension, they are so light weight you can wear them in doors when your heating hasn't quite kicked in yet.

1. Try layering thin summer scarves. Putting 2 different patterns together and then wrapping around your neck could give a really cool effect.
Lie one on top of the other, hold the ends and wrap around your neck like you would normally and you're done!

2. Experiment tying your scarves in different ways. Don't go the whole of Autumn and Winter just wrapping them around your neck with the ends hanging down in front. If you need some inspiration, look at the examples HERE for some alternatives.

3.Mix it up... Twist two scarves of similar lengths together loosely before wearing.

4. Got some odd bangles, rings, earrings lying around that you don't wear any more? Thread these onto the middle of different thickness scarves.
(rings on thin, skinny scarves - bangles on slightly thicker or longer scarves)
When you've finished adding all your jewellery, wrap around your neck making sure the jewellery part is at the front and sparkle!

5. Long, skinny scarves also make great head bands for when you can't find a hair tie, and they keep your head warm too. The silk ones are brilliant for stopping your hair going static when you've come into a warm room and it's cold outside - BONUS!

6. Those girls that have Alopecia, Trichotillomania, Hair loss from medicines or chemotherapy, silky summer scarves wrapped around your head not only look cool, they keep your head warm & help any new growing hair stay safe from the outside elements. If you do wear a wig, then they have a little extra help being held in place on really windy days and can dress them up for parties if yours isn't the type that can be styled with hot tools etc.
